Amazon and eBay:

eBay and Amazon are online shopping sites. While there are many similarities between the two, there are a number of differences between them. As an online shopping site, they both aim to provide their customers a convenient way to shop from their homes. They offer a number of products, with or without discounts, and both new and used. Amazon is a retailer, and hence operates as a regular store. It has its own stocks, inventory, and warehousing. eBay is an auction house and operates as a third party connecting purchasers to sellers. It does not have its own inventory, stock or warehousing.

eBay is a site that allows people to buy or sell their stuff. A person buys a product from another person who wants to sell it. However, eBay has become so popular that even companies and stores list their products on it. A buyer can buy new items directly from Amazon or new or used items from Amazon Marketplace sellers. Amazon has a much restricted and stringent process in case the third parties want to sell their new or used products on Amazon Marketplace.

eBay is more seller-oriented and Amazon more buyer-oriented. Traditionally, eBay invites sellers to sell their products on the site with the hope that they'll actually make sales, giving eBay a percentage of those sales. Amazon has traditionally been its own shop, inviting buyers to browse online and purchase directly from Amazon.

eBay has a number of various different products and categories compared to Amazon. eBay tends to have much more products than Amazon. A seller can list almost any kind of item. From antiques to cars, books to sporting goods. Even if the item does not fall into tradition categories, eBay has an ‘Everything Else’ category. The seller can choose to accept only bids for the item or to offer the Buy It Now option, which allows the buyers to purchase the item at the price fixed by the seller.

Amazon usually has a listed prize, on which the buyers can purchase the product. The Amazon Marketplace is not available in all countries where the Amazon site functions.Selling on Amazon will consume less time because most Amazon features are highly automated. You will have to perform a few basic tasks. But on the other hand, most eBay features are not automated and require some attention from sellers. Keeping track of items on eBay can be difficult even with advanced features like Selling Manager Pro.

Amazon and eBay have entirely different fee structures. eBay charges you a monthly rate for listings. Amazon lets you list for free but takes a cut when you make a sale.eBay charges fees based on your sales on a monthly basis. But the insertion fees for the first 50-100 listings per calendar month, depending on listing format and category are 100 percent free.This means that selling on Amazon can be much more expensive than eBay. It is best to list only items that have a high volume of traffic on Amazon.com.Those buying and selling on eBay are more likely to be bargain hunters, merchants and entrepreneurs, whereas those buying on Amazon are more likely to be ordinary consumers.

eBay does a better job for buying and selling almost anything and everything. Anyone can place their items after registering themselves. Amazon is good if you are looking to buy any new item without much bidding.

Both the websites receive a number of reviews from consumers. Both good and bad. The bad reviews are probably because of the poor quality goods delivered. This can be minimized to a great extent if the sellers registered are double checked for the quality of the goods they are providing.

The eBay and Amazon.com website pages as well as the apps are really user friendly. Both eBay and Amazon are used worldwide for buying and selling goods, be it clothing, electronics, crafts, toys, footwear, jewelry, sports or anything. Most of us would have purchased from these at least once,right!
