The “R” in CRM (Customer Relationship Management) stands for ‘relationship’. Describe the relationship you have with your customers. Do these relationships have the attributes of a successful relationship according to Chapter 2?

Part 1
Example: IT organization
I would like to talk about my job place – IT organization. We work in a team together to bring success in any project that we handle. There are different sets of people that are working together, people of different skill sets such as coder, tester, support guy and maintenance. They are led by the managers as the structure of the organization is a hierarchical one. Currently, we are doing a project which is very crucial with respect to the company’s reputation.
Currently, one of my colleague is awarded as a best coder and we have appreciated him. The company has also awarded a certificate of merit to him along with the bonus so to keep his motivation level high. On the other hand, the customer is quiet happy with all the team members and our team manager has appreciated all the team members.
But, contrary to this there was a problem a few days before when the system broke down. There was a chaos in the team and everyone was blaming other members and nobody was willing to take the blame. There my team manager came and have shown a very great skill of taking all the blame on him and have asked to calm down. He told that this kind of situation will come in any project and you just need to be observant to come up with a correct solution for this. He selected me and few more members from the team to handle the situation and have asked others to take care of the ongoing work. We were able to come up with the solution and everything was normalised.
The biggest lesson that I could have learnt from this situation is to be calm and focus on the right thing instead of creating a chaos. This is a great sign of a good team player and a leader.
Part 2
Relationship plays a very important role in carrying out any business activities. One need to be very cautious with a kind of relationship that s/he is maintaining with the colleague, customer and the stakeholders that are involved in carrying out the activities. Any activity is a team work which involves several stakeholders and can be completed only with the involvement of each of them. Therefore, the relationship building is one of the most important factor in the success of any project or activity.
The relationship that I hold with my customer is very healthy as they have a great faith in my work and vice versa I keep their belief right. I consider that the relationship is a both way process and can become a success if both the parties involved have faith on each other. It can be well understood as a clap that be made with two hands and not a single.
Hence, the relationship building is considered as one of the most important factor for the success of any project.
