Topic HR Training and Development in Bank
Task 1 – Research Proposal
In preparation for your final research project to complete your HD/HND, you are required to prepare a research proposal relating to a specified area of business.
The proposal should:
Formulate and record possible research project outline specifications;
Identify the factors that contribute to the process of research project selection;
Produce a research project proposal; and
Provide an appropriate plan and procedures for the agreed research project.
The research proposal should include the following:
An identification of the research question or hypothesis with justification for choice;
A justification of the chosen methodology in terms of the research question;
An action plan with target dates and methods for monitoring and planning; and
A code of ethics for the conduct of the study.
The research proposal must be submitted on 2 September 2018 using the research proposal template on Moodle.
Task 2 – Secondary Literature Review
This task requires students to undertake a critical review of key references applicable to the research area they have chosen.
The secondary literature review must be submitted on 16 September 2018.
Task 3 - Primary Data Review (data collection)
Having finalised your research question and secondary literature review, you will need to conduct your research using a variety of primary sources. Prepare your primary research collection method, such as a survey questionnaire or interview questions, and agree these with your research supervisor.
The data collection methodology must be approved by 23 September 2018.
Task 4 - Analysis and interpretation of research findings review
In order to have sufficient time to analyse your primary and secondary data, you should aim to complete your data collection by 7 October 2018.
You should then analyse and interpret your data (both quantitative and qualitative) using appropriate techniques and methods which support the research questions.
Finally, you are required to record and present your findings in a formal written research report using a variety of diagrams or charts to assist where necessary.
The data analysis and interpretation must be completed by the 21 October 2018.
Task 5 - Conclusion, recommendations and implementation review
You should draw appropriate conclusions based on your secondary and primary research findings.
You are also required to make recommendations based on your research findings
You should then select one of your recommendations and put forward a plan for implementation of the recommendation in the organisation
Explanation / Answer
a. After doing literature review a number of prospective topics in HR emerges which require attention of researchers. Some of them are -
Role of IT in knowledge management
Growing role of HRIS
Expatriate management
Training and development in banking sectors.
b) After assessing the above topics the last topic "training and development in banking sector" was chosen. The rationality behind choosing this research project is continous changing environment and process of transformation in banking sector. This lead to growing concern of training employees with every new change and transformation to make them work effectively and also addressing the issues that claanges such training.
c) Research Project Proposal :
a) Research Question : What is the existing status of training and development programes banks offfer to their employees? Are these programmes effective to traiin employees being dynamic with changing environment? Are these programmes still work in changed context or are outdated? How such programes effect performance of employees in banks.
b) Research methodology: Descriptive researchd esign is choosen, private and public sector banks of New Delhi are targeted. Employees of these banks are sample unit. Research was done through s survey conducted using questionnaire and unstructured interviews with HR trainer of the banks.
c) At first week an observation would be made in these banks to have a sound questionannire in hand. AVrious factors would be observed such as who are low level employees, what kind of work they do, who supervise them etc. AFter observation questionannire would be strutured in which various questions related to finding answers of research questions would be formulated. In third week these questionnaires will be distributed to the employees and meanwhile interviews will be conducted. After fourth and fith week when responses are achived, the data organization and analysis work will start and lastly based upon the analysis report would be prapared.
d) To make sure that employees only fill the questionnaire, identity of any employee should not be revelaed to anyone except the resercher, biasness should be elimitaed if any while collecting data.
