Consider the design of a registration system for a hotel. Following the design specification items in Figure 11-2, briefly describe the relevant users, tasks, and displays in such a system. Hint: the three users are the front desk staff, the concierge, and the guests. Consider no other possible users
This is an online course for me, so simple questions are left unanswered most of the time. Any help would be deeply appreciated!

The functions involved in a registration system are :
User Interface for guest for booking hotel (Assuming the guest to be a computer user)
Ideally, in a online user registration process a keyoard, mouse suffice. Since the guest would have to enter his/her personal, visit details in a form. An online payment gateway could be added to the system for better service.
Touch screen tablets are also a viable option for business users who are frequent travellers.
The displays for the guest are:
Personal Information form
-- Name
--Address
--Phone
--other relevant info.
Visit Details
-- Date of arrival
--Duraition of stay
--Type of accomodation
--food/beverage preference
-- smoking/non-smoking rooms
-- others info
Payment Details (this information needs to be stored securely)

For the front desk, I assume are the ones keeping track of bookings and arrivals/departures
Since they are sitting on a desk, a computer with keyboard, mouse are ideal
They would need to have the complete list of rooms in the hotel. Their guest details and Check in - Check out timings.
-- Master screen for ther system would be a room list with green/red tags indicating occpied or empty status.
-- On clicking a room no. the details of guest would appear.
-- That would tell them for how long is the room vacant/occupied.
-- A side window would detail out the status of room items eg. mini bar needs to be restocked, TV needs to be repaired etc.
-- A second screen would handle new registrations eg. for those guests who book on the phone
-- Same as guest registration
The conceirge would require a hand held device eg. graphics tablet, touch screen, touch pen
Their display would be simple
-- A list of rooms.
-- Each room with the services to be provided eg. dinner reservations, chauffer requirements etc.
