1) Need came to communicate from non fixed line and place to another location in any part of city or world.It solves the problem of mobility ans communication from anywhere to anywhere.Mobile communication has made world smaller.
2) Mobile is a small electronic handset with dial pad and other apps and some mobile also have a small camera and internet connectivity with many apps for mobile banking etc that is software part.
3)Function The user dials the number which via exchange and mobile towers signal received by receiver and communication begins.It is telecommunication engineering.
4)Today mobile is very efficient and fast specially 4G is very fast.Today mobiles work flawless and very efficient.
5)Comparative alternative is land line or voice over internet which are also widely used and very common.
6)History invented in 70's cant recollect inventor and with time technology has become more refined and efficient and economical.Sorry i cant recollect name of inventor but it must be Bell Labs or AT&T
I have got ideas of next generation mobile but i am a mechanical engineer not telecomunications or Computer or electronic engineer.
