Explanation / Answer
First let me tell you types of data- There are two types of data
Primary- These data are collected first time hence fresh.
Secondary- These are data which are collected by someone else and analyzed through statistical process and you can use them.
Different methods are there to collect these data
Here are some method of Primary data collection.-
Observation Method- This is the method where an observer goes to field personally and observe the things and make a data. There is a systematic viewing by the observer.
Interview method- As the name suggests in interview method the interviewer asks the questions and find the data In response. There is oral verbal communication
There are many types of interviews to collect data like- personal interview, structured interview, telephonic interview, clinical interview, group interviews etc
Questionnaire method- In this method the complete questionnaire is sent to the respondent. Th respondent answers the question in space provided on the questionnaire. The respondent understands and replies on their own
Schedule Method- This method is nearly equal to questionnaire method but the difference is that an enumerator is there to fill the questionnaire and make the respondent understand the meaning of the questions in case if he/she did not understand. So the respondent answers correctly. In questionnaire method he/she answers as per their understanding.
Other methods- Warranty cards where post card size cards are sent to respondent and they provide the data by answering the questions and case study method, survey method, panel method.
Getting Secondary Data-
Here are the some methods to get secondary data-
Publication of Central or state government- There are some data which are available by the government for an example population census.
Magazines, newspapers- Data available in newspapers and magazines,
Research conducted by the scholars, experts universities etc
Public records
Reports available from stock exchange market, bank etc.
If I talk about family welfare program in India then Schedule method would be best. Because there is a questionnaire and an enumerator to collect the data and to brief about the objectives, methods, doubts etc.
Here are some merit and demerit of this method
Merits-
Demerits-
The quality of the data depends on enumerator. It is possible that he/she fills the questionnaire by him/herself in order to complete the work early
There is a huge cost because you have to pay enumerators
Takes more time because each and every respondent has to be understood about the questions. Making understand takes time.
As per Chegg policy I can answer one question in one go. I will feel glad to answer your rest questions if you ask them separately.
