Question

Many studies have examined the health effects of coffee, and whether the overall effects of coffee consumption are positive or negative has been widely disputed. The majority of recent research suggests that moderate coffee consumption is benign or mildly beneficial in healthy adults. However, coffee can worsen the symptoms of some conditions, largely due to the caffeine and other ingredients it contains. What do you deem appropriate advertising for Grounds Keeper products? What levels of advertising deception and unfairness would you be comfortable with if you were either Tom or Jack?

Explanation / Answer

The level of advertising deception that I would be comfortable with when advertising for ground keeper products is not out and out advertising the negative effects of caffeine at the expense of not advertising the benefits of caffeine products. Rather, I would advertise the potency of the product and let the customers decide if they are benefitted from the effects of caffeine or not. Still, if caffeine heightens the effect of a particular allergy, acts as a stimulant or fuel a present case of any particular disease, as Jack, I would still choose to mention the negative effects of the product. This is what I would be comfortable with. Mentioning the harmful effects of the product even if in small font in a corner would still be considered appropriate in my opinion.
