Can you please give me a half ;page suggestion based on this article?
One’s perception can be influenced by one’s own mind with the potential to be influenced by outside factors as well. When looking at the material, Perception, I initially see only certain images. When opened up for discussion, outside perspective led to changes in what I see. This relates to cultural bias and stereotypes in that one’s own perception of a certain race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, etc. can be influenced by outside factors as well. This can lead to a more positive or negative perception of such cultural differences. How one is perceived based on these cultural differences can create societal stereotypes that unfortunately continue to exist as a result of perception. As teachers, it is our job to start to break down these societal notions and bring our students together.
In the classroom, it is important to separate perception and beliefs that the outside world may put in our minds. As a teacher, I will ensure that all students are treated fairly, respectfully, and given all the tools possible to be successful in my classroom as well as how to carry those ideals with them for the future. Learning to treat each other with dignity and respect, regardless of any cultural differences, will be a huge motive in my classroom.
