Explanation / Answer

Business is an endeavour of a group of people to create value for its customer meanwhile ensuring it profits from these activities. I’ve been working with Amazon and have seen millions of people world over buying goods online. Shopping online is easy, fun and very convenient, however sometimes it doesn’t provide the closeness to the product especially in apparels. I reach out Walmart, Costco, Nike to fulfil my need to touch and feel the product. However, overall e-commerce has made life easier for the customer and changed the way we shop.

Businesses have existed since the earliest days of society, and we have come a long way from barter system. Businesses promote innovation and provide economic development to a country and its people. Apple, Microsoft, Exxon Mobile, Citibank and many other businesses surround us and are part of our daily activities. From simple grocery shop to Google, all business creates value for us one way or another. At times we are direct consumers and payers of the value, as in a grocery store and sometimes we are not, as in case of Google.

E-commerce has provided incredible selection, price and product to its customers. Amazon over the years has improved their online and mobile product that eases the buying process for the customer. The wide selection of products that is available online, excellent customer service and fast deliveries are the pillars of e-commerce business. Despite the intense competition in e-commerce space, amazon has maintained its position of growth while creating incredible value for all its customer world over. I’ve had a positive experience shopping on Amazon except on a few occasions when I faced delivery failures from Amazon.

I’ve had bad experiences with Uber. Uber is a great service concept and helps us resolve our daily transportation problems but I’ve faced abuse from the drivers on a few rides that was very disappointing. I had not expected such poor customer service by some drivers of Uber, a billion dollar company. Certainly, umber needs to resolve these issues and work upon training its drivers to better handle customer expectations. Though the customer service department has been supportive, probably the ground operations need to be worked upon made more efficient to not cause inconvenience to the rider customers.

I would want to understand multiple aspects that support the business. How do businesses develop products, reach out to customers, market products and run all the operations behind the scene. What are some of the most important concepts that differentiate product based business versus the service based business and how does one approach in growing these types of businesses. Is there business law, how does it work and what should be taken care of while building businesses.
