Question
Hewlett Packard HP is a global information technology company that is based in America, started their base operations in a garage in Palo Alto, California. The technology was developed by William Bill Redington Hewlett and David Dave Packard in the year 1939, where they had started working on computers from the very beginning by participating and minimizing the existing technology that existed they managed to create smaller versions of the once room sized computer. The organisation has managed to stay on top of all competition from the year 2007 to 2013 until Lenovo managed to steal their spot. Change is hard to accept and most of the time resistance is gained when changing the direction of an organisation. However in the case of HP it was found to be a story of success, since the organisation had a change in strategy back in 2011 followed by close alignment of the corporate structure. Origins of Change: The change originated when the organisation wanted to grow, here the shareholders played a major role in deciding the outcome of the organisation. Transparency was to be increased as to know whether the returns will be as expected. Since transparency was such an issue new board members were elected as well to make sure that the change process was smooth and resistance was at its minimal. The change was designed to bring new leadership to the showground and take HP further up the ladder in the world of technology. Investors and sharcholders were extreme to see the new changes to the organisation as to better align HP with the new structure therefore they would make the most of the strategic market opportunities. Change Model Used: Ann Livermore had been elected by the Board to lead the company through the transformation, as she is a respected and very talented person in the world of IT. The model that was used to bring about change were incremental and continuous change, because incremental takes every individual characteristic and makes sure that it moves at one step at a time and whereas continuous looks at different aspects. The organisation change however was successful mainly because employees used to look up to her as she knew what she was doing, her guidance and wisdom brought about a successful change and moved HP in a direction which had already been cleverly planned out Outcomes of the Change: The change that HP underwent has been recorded as one of the best internal organisational changes ever, since the organisation had also made jobless staff as well as certain positions which were believed to be unfit to function within the organisation such as the Chief Administration Officer role and the Chief Information Officer role, where all staff under them were made jobless as well. The part where the conflict should have been come upon was minimized, what is understood from past events at HP states that the business had a strategic plan that was developed 3 months prior to the change that was to occur. This plan was carried out by Ann Livermore which ended up in success, also effecting other locations of HP around the Globe, the change process had occurred in the year 2011Explanation / Answer

In my opinion, To implement change in a organization, following actions needs to be taken:
1. Ownership: A technique that can get employees personally involved in change to encourage them to look at business as they were running it.
2. Map it out : Tell the employee what is going on and to be change, this create understanding from the beginning and avoid confusion.
3. Go in stages: Changes should be implementing in stages. Create the sense of urgency that gather support for change.
4. Get everyone involved: For the change to take hold, the entire management and executives get involved and create enthusiasm among them.
