In this assignment you’ll examine the legal protections for e-commerce. From the readings or from your own research, choose three laws that regulate the use of the Internet for commercial purposes. You can choose laws that protect the consumer, the provider, or both. In your discussion, also include the issue of jurisdiction when conducting e-commerce transactions. In a well-written paper, provide an overview of each law and what it’s meant to prevent or protect. Based on what you’ve learned so far in the course, propose at least two legal or technological solutions that might enhance the transaction of business via the Internet. Your paper should be well written and meet the following requirements: Be 2-3 pages in length. Include at least three references from the readings or outside sources.

E- Commerce refers to the Internet based industries of buying and selling products or services via electronic means.
Legal Issues of Internet
1. Copyright Law – It protects the original work, but not ideas or facts.
‘Fair – use’ allow limited use of copyrighted work. Like in teaching, criticism, reporting and comment, research. Actually it is related to putting pictures, copy text, music or article without permission.
Copyright infringers may face civil and criminal liability.
2. Law related to Trade marks – Trade mark is word, name, symbol or device used by someone to identify the product. Trademark registration begins with US Trademark office. Trademarks are protected from infringement and dilution also.
Trademarks should not be used in Meta – tags or in a pay per click ad campaign.
3. Spam – It is accounted for 80% of the total mails. There are no laws to prohibit spamming but there are laws to regulate spam. Trademark and unfair competition laws have been used against spammers.
4. Cyber Crimes – Email Spoofing (changing the email header), Phishing (where official look like email send to unsuspected user, Pagejacking (where the address bar can be altered so that it appears to be the official website.
Solutions to protect the data in E- commerce business-
1. Use a secure E commerce platform;
2. Use a secure connection for online check out;
3. Don’t store the sensitive data;
4. Employ an address and card verification number (CVV);
5. Require strong passwords;
6. Setup system alerts for suspicious activity;
7. Layer your security.
