Explain your answer. Part 2 Based on the videos and your responses to the questions in Part 1, describe in an essay how One Smooth Stone demonstrates/applies any three management theories discussed in the text. Explanation / Answer

a) Mark Ledogar and Gary Vik shows that management doesn’t means controlling the resources and making them to work according to company’s rule but to create an environment where every employee feels equal and are able to share their thoughts or give suggestion for the betterment of the company. This style of management creates a positive environment which enables the employee to work for the betterment of the company in a collaborative way. The two leaders focus on this aspect of management so as to make the management of company strong and agile.

b) Video displays that Ledogar and Vik has incorporated all the Mintzberg’s managerial idea and incorporated them into better system. They specifically focus on Leader, Liaison, spokesperson, entrepreneur, Negotiator and resource allocator roles. By showing everyone that how they belong to whole company but not to any specific section. It also tells that the company should focus on themselves even if it is at the bottom in the market because this will help it in thinking ahead and working for their own betterment.

c) Katz’s management skill in terms of technical, conceptual and human has been brought out through the video. Ledogar and vik display the skill to understand what is required in the company and teaches how to relate it with the problem in hand. It also shows that how easy it is to work in a group thus showing the importance of team work and collaboration and how to gain the result desired for the job.

d) One smooth stone has shown that it care for the welfare of employees and clients by putting their need first. Company plays an active role in organizing meeting, parties or other events with its employees and clients, and together they create a plan which they are going to present the company. The video shows that company follow the approach of fun at work and believe that work cannot be just strict and boring but can be exciting if mixed with fun. It also shows that how everyone can have a fun work life they give people the steps on how to achieve the desired goals. It also set an example for another companies that being an open system helps in thriving business by keeping employees and clients happy.
