I have not experienced the 360 assessments but it sounds like an interesting tool. I agree that this shouldn't be used as an assessment tool but more so a learning tool so employees and managers can learn about one another and build trusts and teamwork among one another. I think this will work well if HR or head of the department facilitate the process and make the decision on which employee will pair with one another and provide feedback rather than having the employees select to whom they want to give feedback to. I currently work in a very small department and we have a very open communication model, so I don't think it will work well. I think this may be a useful tool in the department I previously work in. However, I don't think it will work because nobody will be honest enough to provide honest feedback as the supervisor may use it against the employee. If honest feedback cannot be solicited, I don't see how this can be useful. If this process is truly anonymous, this may work.

For the effective development of the organization 360 degree feedback has been proved effective. The feedback that has been derived or gathered will be later utilized for the growth of the organization, individual grooming and team development. As employees are being given the feedback which include the complete report i.e. their strengths and weakness and well as the area in which they need improvement. It gives employee a view that how the organization is looking and perceiving them an in depth know how is being gained as in when the individual compare the 360 degree feedback with the self-assessment

To have a balanced View: It gives a balance view to an employee about their behavior and skills as feedback is not just given by the supervisor but the variety of the individuals from the organization. It provides a clear and transparent picture of the employee’s demonstrated behavior

To leverage the Strengths: With the help of 360 degree view it is convenient to thoroughly look at the employee’s strength. For an organization it is important to acknowledge the strengths and understand the area of personal improvement. It will further help in drawing the training and the development plan for the individual. The feedback received can also be utilized for the succession planning and career development.

4) To uncovers the blindspots: With the help of 360 degree multi-rather feedback will be provided to an individual to unfold the blindspots of an individual’s behavior. This will allows the employee to comprehend the attitude and behaviors that they are showing but never notices by themselves.
