Hey I am problems with answering problems 1& 2. Can you pease show me how you got your answers please?
1 points Save Answer QUESTION 1 Determine if each of the following will increase, decrease, or have no effect on the equilibrium vapor pressure of a substance? Increased volume of liquid A. Decreased vapor pressure increased Surface area of liquid B. No effect G increased temperature C. Increased vapor pressure QUESTION 2 1 points Save Answer A substance has a vapor pressure of 0.127 atm at 307 K. What is the normal boiling point of the substance in kelvin? Normal boiling is when vapor pressure 1 atm or 760 mmHg. vap 12.3 kJ/mol

Explanation / Answer

Increased volume of liquid   - No effect

Increases surface area of liquid   - No effect

Increased temperature - Increased vapor pressure

2) we use the formula

ln ( P2/P1) = ( dH / R) ( 1/T1 - 1/T2)

where P1 = initial vapo pressure = 0.127 , T1 = 307 K

P2 = 1 atm ,    T2 = normal boiling point which we find out

dH Vap = 12.3 KJ/mol = 12300 J/mol

ln ( 1 / 0.127) = ( 12300 J/mol / 8.314 J/molk)   ( 1/307 - 1/T2)

T2 = 537 K

Thus noral boiling point is 537 K
