Question

I have to make corrections to the answers I got wrong. Basically I have to explain what is the correct answer and why, ONLY THE ONES I GOT WRONG (red marked is wrong)

Chem 2202 Spring 2017 Exam 1 1. spts) Paying close attention to both starting materials and products of each reaction b rank the hydrogenation reactions below according to their enthalpies (1: most exothermic 2. (2pt) what conditions are used for hydrogenation? 3. pts) Rank the four molecules below according to their basicity (1.most basic) 18

Explanation / Answer

1.

Heat of hydrogenation is inversely proportional to alkene stability i.e more stable the alkene lesser would be heat of hydrogenation.

Out of given reactions

Reaction b would have lowest heat of hydrogenation as benzene is aromatic so very stable.

So just interchange 3 and 4 rank in ur answer. Then ur answer would be correct.
