Please Help! Thank you!
For each of the following reactions, predict the products, converting each to a balanced formula equation. Include physical states in your answer.
(a) Aqueous solutions of sulfuric acid and sodium hydroxide are mixed together. (Heat is released during the reaction.)
(b) Aqueous solutions of lead(II) nitrate and potassium bromide are mixed together. (The solution turns cloudy white during the reaction.)
(c) Aqueous solutions of ammonium chloride and silver nitrate are mixed together. (The solution turns cloudy white during the reaction.)
(d) Solid calcium carbonate is mixed with aqueous acetic acid (HC2H3O2). (Bubbles of gas are formed during the reaction.)
Explanation / Answer
Ans -
(a) 2NaOH(aq)+ H2SO4(aq)--->2 H2O(l)+ Na2SO4(aq)+ heat
(b) Pb(NO3)2 + 2 KBr = 2 KNO3 + PbBr2(s) (It is a double displacement reaction. Products are potassium nitrate and also lead bromide which is white insoluble and so precipitates hence the white colour in the solution)
(c) NH4Cl + AgNO3 = AgCl(s) + NH4NO3 (It is a double displacement reaction.In soluble products and precipitate producing white colour)
(d) CaCO3 + 2 CH3COOH = (CH3COO)2Ca(aq) + CO2(g) + H2O(l) (CO2 is produced which causes bubbling during reaction)
