Question

If the interference value is 0, then what is the probability of recombination between genes A and B if there is a recombination between genes B and C, where the gene order is A-B-C, the recombination fraction between A and B is 0.05, and the recombination fraction between B and C is 0.15?

Can some one confirm my understanding below and validate my answer. I still have serious problem understanding interference

There is recombination between B and C. There is never a recombination in adjacent regions. Since Interference value is zero, the B&C recombination must be complete. Therefore, probability of A and B recombination is zero.

Is this correct? Or, will it remain at 0.05?

Explanation / Answer

Since the interference value here is zero, it means that there is no interference and crossing over could occur normally if there is a cross over spot, therefore the probability of cross over between A and B should remain the same. i.e. = 0.05
