Question
I need help with this question number 1 and it’s part l(a,b&c) please! You have been asked to make several sucrose solutions. The formula weight of sucrose is 342.3 g/mole. 1. .5 Molar Calculate how much sucrose you would need to measure out to make 3 Liter of a 2 solution of sucrose. Show your work. THEN, describe the steps nee solutions (NOT CALCULATIONS). (6 pts) A. ded to physically make these hen you go to make the 1 L of 1 M sucrose solution, you find that there are only 205.4 grams of sucrose powder in the bottle. Given that you only have 205.4 g of sucrose, how much 1M sucrose solution could you actually make? Show your work. (6 pts) B. WExplanation / Answer
formula weight of sucrose = 342.3 g/mole
molarity of sucrose= 2.5M= 2.5 moles of sucrose /Liter of solution
1 liter of solution contains 2.5 moles of sucrose, required volume = 3 L
3 liters of solution contains 3*2.5= 7.5 moles of surcose. Mass of sucrose required= moles* molar mass= 7.5* 342.3 gm =2567.25 gm. weight 2567.25 gm of sucrose and dissolve in 3 liter of water.
2. 1 Molarity= 1 mole of sucrose/ liter of solution
1 mole of sucrose =342.3 g
342.3 gm of sucrose is there in 1 liter of solution
205,4 gm of surcose is there in 205.4/342.3 liter of solution = 0.6L, 1 L= 1000ml
0.6L= 0.6*1000ml= 600ml
205.4 gm of sucrose when dissolved in 600ml water gives rise to 1M solution,
3. molarity = moles/Liters
1liter= 1000ml of solution
case1: 0.15M=0.15 moles in 1000ml solution. 100ml solution need to contains 100*0.15/1000=0.015 moles of sucrose, mass of sucose= moles* molar mass= 0.015*342.3 gm = 5.1345 gm
case 2: 0.2M=0.2 moles in 1000ml solution, 100ml solution need to contains 100*0.2/1000=0.02moles of sucrose. Mass of sucrose= moles* molar mass =0.02*342.3 gm =6.846 gm
case 3: 0.25M= 0.25 moles in 1000ml solution, 100ml solution need to contain 100*0.25/1000=0.025 moles, mass of sucrose= 0.025*342.3 gm =8.5575 gm
case 4: 0.3M= 0.3 moles in 1000ml solution, 100ml solution need to contains 100*0.3/1000=0.03moles, mass of sucrose =0.03*342.3 gm =10.269 gm
case 4: 0.35M=0.35 moles in 1000ml solution, 100ml solution need to contains 100*0.35/1000=0.035 moles of sucrose. mass of sucrose =0.035*342.3 gm =11.98 gm
case 5: 0.4M= 0.4 moles in 1000ml solution, 100ml solution need to contains 100*0.4/1000=0.04 moles of sucrose. mass of sucrose =0.04*342.3 gm =13.692 gm
