ID: A What interpretation is correct for the following graph, which shows the reaction to some change imposed on the equilibrium of the following system 22. PCl(g)+92.5kJPC(g)+Ch(g PC tme a. Some PCl,(g) was injected. b. Some PCl,(g) was removed. c. The temperature was increased. d. e. The temperature was decreased. The pressure was increased. Methanol is a useful substrate for the production of esters, aldehydes, and other industrial chemicals. Carbon dioxide is reacted withhydrogen to produce methanol with /-( 238.7) kJ/mol. Low temperatures will a. have no effect on the equilibrium b. favour the production of carbon dioxide and hydrogen c. prevent the reaction from occurring d. favour the production of methanol 23. A catalyst is added to a system involving a reversible reaction. Which do you expect to occun? a. b. c. d. e. 24. the catalyst is consumed the equilibrium shifts in one direction the temperature of the system increases the system reaches equilibrium more quickly all of the above solid lead(ll)chloride is in equilibrium with its ions, the ratio of lead(lI) ion to chloride ion is which of the following? c. 1:2 d. 1:3 e. 3:1 b. 2:1 26. In a saturated solution prepared from PbBr', the concentration of Br' is 8.2x 10 mol/L. The [Pb"] in molL is which of the following? a. 8.2 x 10 What will happen to the following equilibrium if silver ions are added to the solution? c. 0.16 d. 0.24 b. 4.1 x 10 27. AgNO(s) Ag(aq) + No,(aq) The equilibrium will shift to the left. c. d. The equilibrium will shift to the l drive the equilibrium to the left. This process is known as d. a. There will be no change. centre. The equilibrium will shift to the right. b. When a solid is dissolved in water, it separates into its constituent a. the common ion effect If a new compound with an identical 28. collision theory Dalton's law of partial pressures b. The graph shows that the conc of both the products decreases and the conc of the reactant increases, which means that the reaction proceeds backwards.
Since the reaction is endothermic, this means that higher temperature favors the forward reaction while lower temperature favors the backward reaction.
Hence the temperature was decreased which caused this change.
(23)
Since dH for the reaction is negative, this means that the reaction is exothermic, and proceeds with release of heat.
So when temperature is low the reaction proceeds forward and favors the production of CO2 and hydrogen.
(24)
When a catalyst is added, the reaction reaches equilibrium more quickly, because the catalyst provides an
alternative pathway for which the activation energy barrier is reduced.
(25)
The reaction taking place is:
PbCl2(s) <---> Pb2+ + 2Cl-
Since coefficient of Cl- is 2, so the ratio of lead ion to chloride ion is 1:2
Hope this helps !
