Question

Consider the structure below of an unnamed organic molecule. Three hydrogens, or sets of hydrogen atoms, are identified by letter. Rank them from most to least reactive to free radical halogenation reaction conditions. Could you please explain your answer as well?

I think that it goes C>B>A because:

A= primary

B= secondary

C= tertiary

and reactivity goes tertiary>secondary>primary.

Could anyone please help me?

Thank you so much!

Explanation / Answer

B > C > A since at B free radical has more resonating structures than C , which is more important than carbon being secondary or tertiary and for C and A , C is stabilized by resonance as well as hyper-conjugation.
