Question
Colors displayed differently depending on view in excel
I have an application where I am exporting a file to excel. The cells are color formatted depending on the values. In this case, they should have a light gray color (RGB(245,245,245)). It looks good in the sheet that I export to, but if I copy it to another sheet, the color changes (in this case to a turquoise).
I've been trying to figure out why this happens and what I found is that the gray color is shown in the format cells dialogue, whereas the turquoise is shown in the palette (see pictures below). Both pictures are from the original sheet. In the sheet where I copy the data to, both are showing the turquoise colour.
Explanation / Answer
Do you have any conditional formatting applied to Excel.
You can work around this problem using one of the following methods depending on the version of Excel you use in your environment:
Use Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V combination with the following steps:
or
After pressing Ctrl+V in the new worksheet choose Keep source formatting in Paste Options.
However you may also Goto Page Layout tab in excel and make sure that both spreadsheets are using the same theme.
Follow the steps and let us know if that helps. If the issue persists, reply and we will be happy to help you.
