Question
Here's my question For the following aqueous reactions complete and balance themolecular equation and write a net ionic equation, making sure toinclude physical states of the compunds. 1. potassium carbonate + strontium nitrate 2. calcium hydoxide + nitric acid I'm having a hard time knowing the physical states (aq, s, lor g). Im also having a hard time writing the equations,especially the net ionic. Explanation / Answer
The physical states are actually quite simple : aq - aquaeous s - solid l - liquid g - gas The equations are : 1) Molecular : K2CO3 (aq)+Sr(NO3)2 (aq) ---> 2KNO3 (aq) +SrCO3 (aq) Since it is simply a double displacement reaction, there is noionic reaction. 2) Molecular : Ca(OH)2 (aq) + 2HNO3 (aq)--> Ca(NO3)2 (aq) + 2H2O(l) Ionic : 2OH- (aq) + 2H+ (aq) --->2H2O (l) Since it is simply a double displacement reaction, there is noionic reaction. 2) Molecular : Ca(OH)2 (aq) + 2HNO3 (aq)--> Ca(NO3)2 (aq) + 2H2O(l) Ionic : 2OH- (aq) + 2H+ (aq) --->2H2O (l)
