Question

Can someone provide me an explanation to:- "If we form water from oxygen and hydrogen, the mass of oxygenconsumed will always be eight times the mass of hydrogen thatreacts. This is true even if there's a large excess of one ofthem. For instance, if 100 g of oxygen is mixed with 1 g ofhydrogen and the reaction to form water is initiated, all thehydrogen would react but only 8 g of oxygen would be consumed;therer woould be 92 g of oxygen left over. No matter how we try, wecan't alter the chemical composition of the water formed in thereaction." ((NOTE: I found this paragraph in thetext-book!))
