Question
Why is there suppose to be 2 Cl and 2 Ag, in the final equation, Ihave them marked in red...The total question is here in Green...
Write a balanced net ionic equation for thereduction of UO2+2 in a WaldenReductor...
What was done, was just taken the standard Walden reductor...
Ag + Cl ---> AgCl
and the UO_2 equation...
UO2+2 + 4H + 2e- ---> U4+ + 2H2O
Combined the two together... and go the same thing, except withoutthe 2's in front of the Ag and Cl, and I can't figure out why theywould be there. The equation is balanced with just 1 Ag and 1 Cl,so why bother adding another 2 in there?
The answer is suppose to be UO2+2+ 4H+ + 2Cl- +2 Ag+ ----> U4+ +H2O + 2 AgCl
Thanks for any help and like always I rate...
