Question

Rena 4 minutes ago 10. A student did an experiment to calculate percent composition of a mixture of sand and Potassium chloride. At the end of the experiment, student determined that the mixture had 29 percent of sand and 29 percent of potassium chloride, Do you then this data make sense? Explain your reasoning 11. Phenolphthalein is not a good indicator to test Hydrochloric acid. True or false? Expla reasoning 12. To test the strength of an acid or base, we can either use ph paper or ph meter.Wwhich one of these two tests is less accurate? Explain your reasoning by giving specific example

Explanation / Answer

Ans 10 :

The data from this experiment does not make any sense. The student has likely done some calculation error. This is because , whenever a binary mixture is seperated , the components percentage must add upto 100. For suppose if the percentage of sand is 29 , the other must be 100 - 29 = 71 % or vice versa.

Since here the percentage for both the components is given 29% , which adds upto to 58 % , these results are incorrect.
