Here we need to be able to explain in some (but not too much) detail the science behind global warming. OUCH! How do you do that in a couple of pages? Kind of hard, huh? But we need to be able to do this, because we have to be able to explain to our friends and co-workers how the global ecosystems work, and how they will change if we keep warming the planet through greenhouse gas emissions. And we need to understand why these changes will be harmful not only to the animals that currently exist, but to our own species as well. So the assignment for this week is to do that – explain how our planet functions as one big ecosystem. Or, to think of it another way, you are going to try and explain how everything is connected. The Unraveling World – what are the main changes to life on earth that are occurring as you write this assignment? What do they signal about the future of life on the planet? Peril at the Poles – how has global warming changed the polar regions, and how has that change affected life? If these changes continue at the present rate, what will be the probably effect of life on earth? The Great Stumpy Reef – how do our reefs show us the negative effects of Global Warming? What is the main hazard to life if we lose them? A Warning from the Golden Toad – how did weather changes cause the disappearance of species of toads? What does this tell us about global warming? Liquid Gold – how have changes in climate changes rainfall pattern? How have those changes harmed human groups? How is affecting the industrialized world right now? Expand on that – if we keep changing the climate even more severely, what are some of the likely problems to face humanity as a species? An Energetic Onion Skin – same question for the atmosphere. How is global warming affecting our atmosphere, and what problems is that causing Humanity? Playing at Canute – what is the big unknown about ocean warming and the polar ice caps? Application – Using information from assignment 3a and 3b write a short essay – about a page (double spaced) – to explain the basic ecosystem of the planet and how human relate to that ecosystem. How is human activity changing that ecosystem? What are the negative effects, in general, of this change on humans themselves? Now, look at the country you are reporting on. What are the main problems that country will face based on these general problems (in other words, what are the specific problems for this country?)

Our planet as a big Ecosystem: Ecosystem is a community of living organisms in relation with the non living components of their environment things like air, water,and mineral soil interacting as a system.Hence earth has big ecosystem as the earth's ecosystem are defined by the network of interactions among organisms,between organisms and their environment .And also contains energy , water ,nitrogen ,and soil minerals are other essential abiotic components of an ecosystem.Hence the earth is a big ecosystem.
Connections : The energy that flows through ecosystem is obtained from the sun.And enters the system through photosynthesis,a process that takes carbon also from the atmosphere and prepares food.The animals feed on the plants and eat food and get energy and helps for the movement of matter and energy through the system.This influence the microbial biomass present.By breaking down dead organic matter,decomposers release carbon back into the atmosphere and converts nutrients from the dead biomass back to a carbon form which is used by plants.
The unravelling world : the main changes of life occuring: Because of the global warming the earth ecosystem is disturbing.Human health is decreasing.Facing many health problems.Many new health diseases are upcoming due to Global warming. Not only humans but also animals affecting. Many species of animals are disappearing due to the global warming especially sea animals.
Future life on planet : If this happens further the future life have to face many problems. The temperatures will be increased.Climatical changes occurs and hence the cultivation will be affected due to changes in climates.Sudden changes in the atmosphere happens like hurricanes ,tsunami etc.The present life signals the future disasters to be occured if the proper controls are not taken.
Peril at the poles:The ice and snow in the polar region ,because of its light color and high albedo,reflect most incoming solar energy back vout to the space.However as Green House gases are increasing our planet warm and some of this ice and snow melts, less of the solar radiation is absorbed by the Earth's surface and oceans.The added energy warms the polar regions cause ice to melt.
Effect of life on earth due to ice melt : 1) sea level rises 2) affects wild life like polar bears,penguins, seals etc 3)climate changes 4)damage to arctic environment.
The damage that has been occured and will continue to be done to both their and our own ways of life and it will show very serios consequences to us to the future life if we do not rectify the condition.But if the people fail to recognise then it will affect the future life.
The great stumpy reef :Bleaching occurs when the corals respond to the climate changes that is warmer climate.by expelling colorfull algae that live within them.Some corals may die and affects the ecosystem for which it forms the base ,virtually disappears.Sea level rise that is caused due to melting of ice also cause the corals to die as they will go deeper unable to get sunlight.
Hazard to life of due to lose of coral reefs :As the coral reefs protect us from storms.They are the feed for the sea animals.Provides breakwater for adjacent waters. These all will disappears if the reefs were died.
A warming from Golden toad:As the humans are pumping carbon gases into the atmosphere ,then the climate becoming warmer then the toads are dieing due to the warm climate.These conditions made the toad to get the cytrid fungus which will thriver in warmer drier climes.Due to climate change and drought conditions they are dying.
Liquid Gold:Globally water vapour in air increases by 7% for every degree centigrade of watervapour.Totsl volume of precipitation increases by 1-2% per degree of warming .In warmer climate heavy rainfall increases.This causes higher increase of floods.And causes effects to the human beings through health problems.
Global warming affects our atmosphere by changing the climate conditions, increasing sea levels, decreasing wild life. Ozone layer depletion,Atmosphere to be damaged as the carbon gases are releasing into the atmosphere.
Ocean Warming : Ocean warming causes the climate change and causes disasters like tsunami, hurricanes, tornadoes etc.Atlantic polar ice caps are now a days more decreasing due to the global warming.Penguins species are disappearing due to the global warming and duee to the melting of polar ice caps.
Humans releases carbon gases into the atmosphere that causes the global warming and the climatic changes and the polar ice caps to be melt.
China is the biggest contributor for the global warming.As it releases more carbon fuels and gases into the atmosphere all over the world.This affect on the humans by causing different skin problems and heart diseases etc.Smog which is occured in mexico city caused due to the global warming.Due to the smog the roads were filled with smog and no one are able to see the others.This continues for a month.Children didnt went to schools due to the smog.
