Please help! Please show all work and not just the answer!

1. If 450 mL of a certain solution are diluted to 950 m with water to form a 0.600M solution, What is the molarity of the original solution?

2. What is the volume in liters of a 0.440 M solution if it was made by dilution 250 mL of a 1.25 M solution?

3. What volume of water in mL should be ADDED to 1.25 L of 0.860 M HCl so that its molarity will be 0.545 M?

4. What would be the molarity of a solution made by mixing 150 mL of 0.250 M HCl with 450 mL of 0.375 M HCl?

Explanation / Answer

1) Since moles of the solute remains coinstant after dilution

Threfore,

App;lying M1*V1 = M2*V2

or, M1*0.45 = 0.6*0.95

or, M1 = 1.267 = molarity of the original solution

2) Since moles of the solute remains coinstant after dilution

Threfore,

App;lying M1*V1 = M2*V2

or, V1*0.44 = 1.25*0.25

or, V1 = 0.710 litres = 710 ml = volume of the original solution

3) Since moles of the solute remains coinstant after dilution

Threfore,

App;lying M1*V1 = M2*V2

or, 0.86*1.25 = 0.545*V2

or, V2 = 1.9725 litres = volume of the final solution

Thus, mass of water to be added = 1.9725 - 1.25 = 0.725 litres

4) Molarity of final solution = [(M1*V1) + (M2*V2)]/(V1 + V2) = [(0.25*0.15) + (0.375*0.45)]/(0.15+0.45) = 0.34375 M
