What is hemolytic disease of the newborn? How does RhoGAM prevent it? A woman with type A blood can have a healthy baby with type B blood. Why doesn't the baby develop hemolytic disease of the newborn? A woman with type A, Rh-negative blood can have a healthy baby with type B, Rh-positive blood and usually will not develop antibodies to the Rh antigen. Why?
