Question

Please help I keep getting these wrong :(

The first one i keep getting 10.6 as the answer and its wrong.

1.

The following reaction was performed in a sealed vessel at 778?C :

H2(g)+I2(g)?2HI(g)

Initially, only H2 and I2 were present at concentrations of [H2]=3.05M and [I2]=2.85M. The equilibrium concentration of I2 is 0.0800M . What is the equilibrium constant, Kc, for the reaction at this temperature?

Express your answer numerically.

2. This one i kept getting 1370 and its wrong as well. :(

A mixture initially contains A, B, and C in the following concentrations: [A] = 0.600M , [B] = 0.650M , and [C] = 0.350M . The following reaction occurs and equilibrium is established:

A+2B?C

At equilibrium, [A] = 0.440M and [C] = 0.510M . Calculate the value of the equilibrium constant, Kc.

Express your answer numerically.

Explanation / Answer

Initially, only H2 and I2 were present at concentrations of [H2]=3.05M and [I2]=2.85M. The equilibrium concentration of I2 is 0.0800M . What is the equilibrium constant, Kc

            H2(g)+I2(g)==>2HI(g)

iniial     3.05......2.85........0

change -x............-x........+2x

at eq    3.05-x.....2.85-x.....2x

since equillibrium conc of [I2]=0.08M i.e 2.85-x=0.08, x=2.77 then

kc=(2x)2/[(3.05-x)(2.85-x)]=30.69/[(0.28)(0.08)]=1370.09
