The development and creation of prosthetics is called both an art and a science Why are the research and careful methods of the scientist, and the creativity of the artist required to make a successful prosthesis? How do we know that prosthetics were used in antiquity? How does a culture's art transmit information about that culture to other, perhaps later, cultures? The early Greeks and Romans developed many sophisticated surgical techniques. Why were these techniques lost for almost a thousand years? What other advances in art, medicine, science, math, etc. were lost in the Dark Ages? What does the adage "necessity is the mother of invention" mean? How does this saying apply to the development of prosthetics? Amputees turned to others besides their surgeons to design and fashion their prosthetics. How were local artisans and craftsmen involved in the prosthetic making process? How did improvements in surgical techniques in the 19th century improve prosthetics? How and why have wars advanced the art of prosthetics? Prosthetic makers and amputees consider the socket the most important part of the prosthesis. Why?Explanation / Answer
1) Prosthetic denotes the artificial limb, hand or any body parts which is artificial.. The making of the prosthetic is an art because it has to be designed differently and more sophisticated according to the need for a person with accordance with the use of the science so that It can be easily rotated, moved and performs like the original organ..This includes the involvement of all socket designs and suspension mechanisms too. All computerization and micro-processor control systems are also available...!!
4) it is a popular line which means that when the need of something becomes very important for anything then the people are forced to find out new technology to getting it or finding a new solution to it. Similarly, when in previous decades the people used to loss their an body parts in war, fight, disease they were no able to do their work then people found out new technology to replace them artificial ways so that they can do their work and can spent their life normally..!!
7) wars had been one of the main reason for the development of prosthetic art and science. In previous days wars were the reasons where the people used to lose their hands, limbs, legs etc. They used to lose their body parts in some or other different ways. So, at that the people used to face many difficulties for living. Hence, it created the idea of designing prosthetic products for solving the problem associated with the people..!!
6) new advances in science, technology and knowledge of the body parts, immunity systems etc gave the improvement for the development of prosthetic art. Now a days, they are being done keeping the immune system of the body so tha that donot cause an immune rejection. They can be placed properly to avoid safe surgery, to prevent any surgical bacterial diseases..
