Explanation / Answer

Answer –

We are given, [OH-] and from that we need to calculate the [H+]

Part C- we are given [OH-] = 7.7*10-9 M

We know formula,

[H+] [OH-] = Kw

[H+] [OH-] = 1*10-14

[H+] * 7.7*10-9 = 1*10-14

So, [H+] = 1*10-14 / 7.7*10-9

              = 1.3*10-6 M

Part D) the solution is acidic

From the part C we calculated [H+] and we are given [OH-].

We got [H+] is more than [OH-] , so it is acidic solution.

Part E)

We are given , [OH-] is 100 time greater than [H+]

So we assume [H+] =x , so, [OH-] = 100x

We know formula,

[H+] [OH-] = 1*10-14

x *100x = 1*10-14

100x2 = 1*10-14

x2 = 1*10-14 / 100

x2 = 1*10-16

x = 1.0*10-8 M

[H+] = 1.0*10-8 M

Part F) the solution is basic, because [OH-] is 100 time greater than [H+].
