Question
An industrial waste from a plant has a flow rate of 380 L/min and a concentration of 150 mg/L of total toxic organics (TTO). Maximum effluent concentration allowed by the regulating environmental agency to dispose industrial waste in the sewage system is 20 mg/L of TTO. You have been hired by the owner of this industrial plant to evaluate two design alternatives for treatment reactor. Design alternatives under consideration include a plug - flow treatment reactor (PFR) and completely - stirred treatment reactor (CSTR). Both reaction alternatives are assumed to follow first - order decay with a rate constant (k) of 0.4 hr^ - 1. (a) For both design alternatives, determine the required detention time and reactor volume to achieve the regulating environmental agency allowable effluent concentration? (b) how big the CSTR (in terms of volume) must he compared to the PFR in order to achieve 80% removal?
Explanation / Answer
Anything that has an odor that is strong could be harmful. The oils that are in it that the bird would not come in contact with might be ok short term... but the Isopropanol (alcohol) and carbon dioxide are an issue.
i would contact an avian vet and get the name of a product from them that would be ok to use in the house with your bird....or just clear this one with an avian vet.
