Benzene has a molar absorptivity of 230 M^-1 cm^-1 at 260 nm in ethanol, and ethanol shows no absorbance at 260 nm. How could the concentration of benzene in the solution be determined?

Once the experiment is carried out, the absorbance of the sample is calculated.

After that, use Lambert-beer law, which is A = eCl

where A = Absorabance at the particular wavelength

e = molar absorptivity

C = concetration

l = path length of cuvette

So, we have A , e and l (generally 1cm), concentration can be calculated.
