Question
For these reactions, is the enthalpy term of the free energy expression favorable (+ or -) for the formation of the Diels-Alder adducts? Why or why not? Is the entropy term favorable (+ or -)? Why or why not? Explain why the reactions were run at room temperature vs. elevated temperature based upon your understanding of the free energy change. This question is referring to a Diel-alder reaction we did in lab. Help would be very appreciated. For these reactions, is the enthalpy term of the free energy expression favorable (+ or -) for the formation of the Diels-Alder adducts? Why or why not? Explanation / Answer
formation of diels -alder reaction adducts free energy change is positive.entropy change is negative.because ,here two molecules combined to form a single adduct.
so always entropy is negative ,in any reaction , then wecan say it is non -sopntaneous reaction. so in order to complete the reaction we have to supply additional energy.
