Question

Can some body give me a calculation for this lab. Also povide appropriate preparation this lab procedure please? Need expert please?

Preparation 1. First prepare an aqucous solution that is 100 m of1.50 M NaOH solution (you have to determine what mass of NaOH to use, remember M = n / L). Use the 100 mL volumetric flask and high purity water for thc solvent. Be carcful when handling solid NaOH! This will be your stock of NaOH to refill thc burct betwccn titrations. Fill the burct with thc NaOH solution and clcar any air bubbles from thc nozzlc of thc burct as follows: place the volumetric flask of NaOH under the nozzle of the buret, turn the valve on full blast while flicking the buret tip with your fingers. Inspect to make sure all air bubbles were dislodgecd from the valve, lhen you can lum it off again. Now you can refill the buret lo the 0.0 mL mark. Use a pipette and graduated cylinder to acquire 20-30 mL of the unknown acid solution and transfer this to the 400 mL beaker. Rinse the gradated cylinder with some water and add this to the beaker as well, just to make surc all the acid was transferred. Asscmble the remainder of the apparatus as shown above. If you have to dilute the acid with a little water so that there is cnough solution to fit both the thermomcter and stirring pellct, that's OK. 2. 3. 4.

Explanation / Answer

From the given data, it is the acid base titration in which the unknown concentration of an acid is determined by titrating with strong base. Endpoint or neutratlisation point will be identified by using an acid base indicator(* methyl orange).

Preparation of solution : 0.1M NaOH in 100 ml

Molarity = n/L

M= (Weight/ molecular weight)*1000/volume

this is the formula and ,given that volume = 100ml, NaOH molecular weight= 40 g/mol and M= 0.1M

NOW weight= (0.1*40)/10 = 0.4 grams

hence u have to weigh 0.4 grams or 400 miligrams of NaOH and should dissolved in 100 of distilled water.

step:2: this solution is filled in burette upto the mark.( after rincing it with NaOH)

step:3: 20 ml of acid solution is taken with pipette and titrated with NaOH from the burette, by running base dropwise from burette to beaker of conical flask, at endpoint wth the help of an indicator the colour of solution changes from orange to yellow

methyl orange is reddish in acid and yellow in base.

by taking the reading of volume of base( burette) , we can calculate the concentration of unknown acid by the formula

M1V1= M2V2
