John Gregory brown is an American novelist. He was born in New Orleans, Louisiana in the year 1960. He is author of novels like The Wrecked, Decorations in the Cemetery, Audubon's watch, Blessed body of Shelton Lafleur and a thousand miles to nowhere. His book ' a thousand miles from nowhere' shows the vulnerability of the black lives and is a story of redemption and loss simultaneously. This is a complex story involving quirky characters and unexpected events which all point towards the direction of homecoming which is the possibility of redemption. This story tells us that redemption can occur even at the most unfavourable circumstances.

His novel Audubon watch is poetically and elegantly written with energetic and powerful themes. This is a story of sexual passion of Audubon for Myra and also deals with emotions like forgiveness, betrayal, memory and time.
