You will earn participation credit for any substantive responses you post in these discussion threads Hello, Everyone, In the Harry Potter series, Voldemort was the antagonist; he was the bad wizard. Voldemort was so bad that others were even afraid to say his name. Consequently, they called him "he who shall not be named." Economics has a reputation like Voldemort's: its name brings on anxiety Class - What are your preconceptions of economics? Do you think economics will be a relatively difficuit course? why or why not? OType here to 2Explanation / Answer
My perception is it is a tough subject. The reason is because there is too much math and statistics involved. Further econometrics is even more difficult. Unfortunately as was shown by financial crisis classroom study of economics is too far from reality. This is because economists have substituted math for theory in recent years. This has become more as a showoff rather than a need. I do agree that theory has some limitations E. G we cant represent 4 dimensional figures in theory. Mathematics can easily handle such situation. But substituting mathematics for theory just for the sake of show off is not good. It has made subject quite difficult for non mathematics students.
