Part A

We know that the electoral college in the United States is the mechanism of electing the president and vice president by small groups of appointed representatives or electors. In the US history, four presidents are won the election through the electoral college votes. This is is an indirect election system.

For the current situation, the US electoral college system should be reformed, it would help in both democracy and political party of the country. It is because the electoral college system not distributed the votes equally. It is noted that the lower populated states over participate in the electoral college because of the past existence of slavery. Now the condition is that which party have the majority of these states get more votes. The effect is that the votes suppress for this condition existed in the US.

Part B

In the election system existed in the US have minority or smaller states population have more rights to decide their president. Under the electoral college system, states have more power than a citizen of the country. It is noted that the direct election of the president will more suitable in the country because it eliminates states by states from the electoral process. Also, it reduces the institutional support of the parties. It also reduces the electoral fraud in the election system.

We know that the only states, like Nebraska and Maine, do not follow the winners take all rule. So it is found that those states split the electoral votes among the candidates based on the proportional allocation of votes. So the split of votes can happen once in these states.

In overall, the electoral college system it works better. But the country should follow one person one vote method and give more power to the citizen of the country than states.
