Question

Imagine that seven weeks ago, you submitted an application to work within the Business Process Improvement Department of Home Depot. You learned of this opportunity at the All AccessSeries here on campus. You had an interview for this role two weeks ago and you felt very confident of your performance highlighting how you could add value to this position.  You know the recruitment process is very competitive.  You sent a follow-up thank you note to Kirstie Colin and her team.  This morning, you were offered another role, at another organization; however, your preferred position would be with Home Depot.  Write Ms. Colin an email that conveys the urgency of your need to know her hiring decision without being discourteous.

Explanation / Answer

Dear Ms. Colin,

This is with regard to my application for the position in the Business Process Improvement Department at Home Depot for which the interview was conducted by your team recently. However this morning I have received an offer for a different role at a different organization and the recruiters are looking for my response at the earliest.

Mam in view of the above I would like to inform you that my preference would be to work with Home Depot as I have genuine interest in the job and also because my endowment of skills & competencies go along with the functions of the position in the Business Process Improvement Department. As the other offer of employment requires an early response and I have preference for the job at Home Depot, under such circumstances it is vital for me to know your decision about the hiring process that took place recently. Mam As you already know, being a recruiter that job markets these days are tough and it is highly competitive for jobs like one at Home Depot in Business Process Improvement Department. There I request you to please let me know your hiring decision regarding my application of employment with Home Depot so that I can decide and move on with the offer in hand although less preferable however better for not being employed/underemployed.

I would be obliged.

Sincerely

Applicant
