Question

Please , write your answer for questions 1,2,3,4. -ollow the instructions listed in the video and answer the followi questions: 1. Each arrow in Figure 2 represents a process or flow of the hydrologic cycle. For each numbered arrow in Figure 2, list the processes in your video response. 2. Use the data in Table 3 to calculate the volume in kmA3 in each ocean basin by multiplying the surface area by the mean depth Sum up the volume in each basin to calculate the total amount of water in the oceanic reservoir. Express your answers to 4 significant digits. State your total answer in your video response 3. Sum up the volumes for each ice cap to calculate the total amount of water in the ice reservoir. Express your answers to 4 significant digits. State your total answer in your video response 4. In total, there is approximately 1410.000.000 km43 of water in the hydrologic cycle. From your calculations of ocean and ice water volume, calcuiate the percentage that each reservoin contributes to one decimai place State your answer in your video response. 5: 10/3

Explanation / Answer

1) From the Fig.2 the following processes can be seen.

1- Evaporation from the ocean.

2- Moist air mass moves to continent.

3- Condensation in which process when humid air is in contact with any cold surface, water collects as droplets on that cold surface.

4- Precipotation. In that process the rain, snow or hails condense on the ground.

5- Surface runoff which flows over the land surface. Its source can be rainfall.

6- Infiltration in which process the water permeats into ground by filtration.

7- Ground water moves to ocean.

2)

Volume(km3)

=depth * area

3)

Ice volume(km3)

=thickness* area

Liquid water volume(km3)

= Ice volume * 0.9

4) Total water in the hydrological cycle = 1,410,000,000 km3

Total ocean water volume= 1,311,846,558 km3

Total ice water volume = 26,228,014.2 km3

Percentage of ocean water = 1,311,846,558/ 1,410,000,000

= 93.03 %

Percentage of ice water = 26,228,014.2 / 1,410,000,000

= 1.86 %
