Question
Ignatius lives in Erehwon a country with two types of money; blue money and red money. All goods have two prices both of which must be paid -a blue price and a red price. It is not possible to exchange blue money for red money in Erehwon. Ignatius likes and buys only Twinkies and a soda called Dr. Nut. One pack of Twinkies costs 1 in blue money and 2 in red money. One can of Dr. Nut costs 1 in blue money and 3 in red money. Ignatius has 10 in blue money and 24 in red money before he in walks into the grocery store. Moments later you see Ignatius exit the grocery store with some Twinkies and Dr. Nut but no money (that is, he has spent all of his blue money and all of his red money). From this information how many packs of Twinkies and how many cans of Dr. Nut has Ignatius bought?
Explanation / Answer
Ignatius has bought 6 packs of Twinkies and 4 cans of Dr. Nut.
Divide red money in two equal parts as blue money costs same for both products.
half of 24 red money equals to 12. Now divide both the halves with the cost of both products i.e. 12/3 and 12/2 that equals to 4 and 6 respectively.
Ignatius can have 4 Dr. Nut can nnd 6 Twinkies with red money. And and for 4 twinkies 4 blues money will be charged and for 6 twinkies 6 blue money will be charged. A total of 10 blue will be required.
Hence, Ignatius spends all the blue and red money in buying 6 packs of Twinkies and 4 cans of Dr. Nut.
