Janice is a member of the health and safety committee (HSC) for a community care facility. Janice and the rest of the HSC are aware that WHS legislation, policies, procedures and practices are part of an ongoing continuous improvement process. For this reason, Janice and the HSC want to ensure that the WHS practices in their workplace are best-practice and in compliance with the current legislation, national standards and codes of practice.
1. Why is it important that the workplace emergency procedures in Janice’s workplace are current?
2. What housekeeping practices should the HCS consider when assessing the currency of their workplace WHS systems?
3. What are some factors that the HSC should consider when checking the currency of personal protective equipment in the workplace?
4. How will the HCS be able to determine if their work processes are up-to-date with current best practice standards?
Explanation / Answer
1)It is an important fact that every members in the workplace should aware of the emergency procedures in cases of any emergency.As per janice's workplace it is a community care facility meand there are different cateogries of people are staying from child to old persons.In this type of facility every body is aware and upto date to manage and known the procuders and every year need to review the procdures for better safety and security.
2)In hose keeping practice help the facility with proper hygiene and safety of the members as well as visitors.The main highlight of the house keeping is make a neat and healty environment,because as i mentioned there are different types of peoples are living in a single roof which leads many health problems and also cause lots of expensens for the management.To start from the grass root level we can make the environment safe and sound .some measures as i can suggest:
a)dust and dirt removal b)Disposal of waste in proper methods c) Storage and mainatain the log sheet of house keeping articles f)regular inspection and recording etc
3)As i mentioned that for the safety of the comminuty care facility depend upon the regular inspection of the Emergency equpiments avaliable in the facility.It is compularsy to maintain a good condtion of emenrgency equipments like Fire extingushers,Fire breakinfg axes and High velocity of Fire pump etc.These needs regular maintiance and checking.
4)this is based on the awarness of members in that particular care facility.if they all are up to date with the procedures ad evacution methods ,that is consider the most central aspect od safety.This can done only by regular awarness and drills will improve the safety.
