STATEMENT OF PROBLEM:
To assess effect of information booklet on the knowledge of class IV employees regarding biomedical waste management in selected government hospital.
OBJECTIVES OF STUDY:
1. To assess the existing knowledge of class IV employees regarding biomedical waste management by administering pre test.
2. To assess the knowledge of class IV employees regarding biomedical waste management in terms of post-test after administering information booklet.
3. To determine the association between the selected demographic variables and post test knowledge scores among class IV employees regarding biomedical waste management.
In this research study Class IV servants(like sweepers, laundary and messing workers etc. ) are the targeted accessible population because they are imporatnt maintenance personnel who play primary role in maintenance, and handling, transportation and laundary of the biomedical waste and they are at greater risk of coming in contact with infectious diseases such as hep-B, HIV, Hep-c etc.So this research can spread awareness in them that how to handle and manage the biomedical waste to preventn or minimize the exposure to the potential infectious diseases.
introduction:
Medical waste should be classified according to their source, typology and risk factors associated with their handeling, storage and urinate disposal. The segregation of waste is a key step and reduction , reuse and recycling should be considered in proper prospective .we Need to consider innovative and radical measures to clean up the distressing picture of lack of civic concern on the part of hospitals and slackness in government implementation of bare minimum of rule, as waste generation particularly BIOMEDICAL WASTE MANAGEMENT imposes increasing direct costs on society. The challenge before us, therefore is to scientifically managed growing quantities of bio waste that go beyond past practice .if we want to protect our environment and health of community, we must sensitize ourselve to this important issue not only in the interest of health care providers but also in the interest of community.
