The Centers for Disease Control works together with local, federal, state and national organizations to decrease the spread of HIV/AIDS. This is a multi faceted approach that tackles behavioral interventions, HIV testing and linkage to treatment. Behavioral interventions looks at educating the people and populations that participate in high risk behaviors and assuring that they have the information necessary to reduce their risk. Access to HIV testing is critical in preventing the spread of HIV. The CDC has worked hard to ensure that routine screening is increased as well as repeat screening for our high risk populations. Once diagnosed, individuals must have access to ongoing care and preventative services which is imperative to reduce the risk of transmission.
The Division of HIV/AIDS Prevention (DHAP) has a vision of a future free of HIV and a mission to promote health and quality of life by preventing HIV infection and reducing HIV related illness and death in the United States. DHAP developed a strategic plan consisting of foul goals; Prevent new HIV infections, Improve health outcomes for persons living with HIV, Reduce HIV related disparities and health inequities, and continually improve effectiveness and efficiency of operations.
The CDC's Act Against AIDS (AAA) initiative consists of multiple HIV prevention campaigns and projects. The initiative uses a mass media approach to get HIV prevention information out to a wide range audience.

Aim of central of disease control is to prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS by working together with local, federal, state and national organization. By spreading the awareness by means of educating people regarding the basic symptoms and risk associated with the disease is helpful in controlling the disease. Making people aware about the detection of this disease at the early stages of window period and easily making the treatment available for it is important.
