Question

Can someone please help rearrange this equation for me? This data is from a lab experiment and I am supposed to compare my results to the theoretical speed of light. Given the equation c=1/sqrt(epsilon0*mu0) the speed of light in a vacuum is ~299792458 m/s. I am to use the equation F=(Mu0*L)/(2pi*d) to find Mu and compare my data to the theoretical speed of light. Whether or not my data is comparable to C is irrelevant, I just have trouble rearranging the equations, but here is my data anyways:

F=.0047

L=26.5 Cm

D=.0073M

Please help me rearrange the above equation to find Mu

Explanation / Answer

Yes, as F = u0L/(2pid)

uo = 0.0047 *(2*3.14* 0.0073)/(0.265)

uo   = 8.13*10^-4

this answer of uo is wrong as U0 = 4pi e-7 = 12.56*10^-7

but you eqn of F = uoL/(2pid) is incorrect

it must be force F = uoi1i2L/2pid)
