Please at least two sentences per questions

           1. What articles did you pull up? Which seems
the most plausible for your purposes?

        2.   How much of the human genome is
                  transposons (and similar)?

3.. What’s the maximum fraction of the human
                 genome that the remaining category,
                 pseudogenes, can occupy?

4.. What section did you find in the Wikipedia
article on transposons that looks pertinent to
your questio. What does “horizontal gene transfer”mean?

              5. What section did you find in the Wikipedia
article on transposons that looks pertinent to
                your question?

Explanation / Answer

Class 2 TEs are characterized by the presence of terminalinverted repeats, about 9 to 40 base pairs long, on both of theirends. As the name suggests terminal inverted repeats are invertedcomplements of each other; for instance, the complement of ACGCTAis TGCGAT. One of the roles of terminal inverted repeats is to berecognized by transposase.

In addition, all TEs in both class 1 and class 2 containflanking direct repeats . Flanking direct repeats are not actuallypart of the transposable element; rather, they play a role ininsertion of the TE. Moreover, after a TE is excised, these repeatsare left behind as "footprints." Sometimes, these footprints altergene expression (i.e., expression of the gene in which they havebeen left behind) even after their related TE has moved to anotherlocation on the genome.
