Question
Information WC1 is agune that has been implicaed in cancar Altermative splicing of wCt nesults in the praduction at two pratains from the WC1 gone, -KTS and-KTS The figure below shoNs a DNA binding nity assay In a DINIA binding assay an elsctric feid is applied to a gal loaded with DNA and protain Smaler moiecuies will travl uterouig the gal than larger molocuias +PS is a short sequence of DNA that WCt protains typicalily bind to. -P5 was loaded into lane 1 of the gal by itselt (no protain. Lane 2 , ioaded with ony the KTS protans ino DNAL Lars 3 was loaded with both +P5 and-KTS. Lan 4 was oded with both +PS AND Direction of Migration +P5 What does this gure tall us about the binding of wC1 protsins (-KTS and "KITS) to P5 DNAExplanation / Answer
Gel electrophoresis is a biological technique used to separate macromolecules, in a gel a molecule can sepeeate based upon their sizes. When the sample is loaded in the well, the RNA molecules will start migrating from the well in the gel. In the fig B and D mutated RNA travelled a longer distance in B when compared with D, hence it means that RNA molecules presented in B is smaller ones and in D are larger ones. So according to the sizes it gets separated in the gels B and D. Whereas in the gel C, the molecules are very larger that it couldn’t able to move on in the gel.
