Explanation / Answer

Carbohydrate is composed of polymer of monosaccharides which are linked via glycosidic bonds to form polysaccharide. Monosaccharide means only one monomer in the molecule, disaccharide means two monomeric units, and polysaccharide means more than two monomeric units. Glycosidic bond is a covalent bond formed as a result of Condensation of alcohol group of one monosaccharide with alcohol, aldehyde or ketone of another monosaccharide.

Protein is composed of chain of amino acids that are linked via amide/peptide bonds. Therefore it is also known as polypeptide. Carboxylic acid group of one amino acid is condensed with amino group of another amino acid to produce peptide bond.

Nucleic acid is composed of chain of nucleotides linked via phosphodiester bonds. A nucleotide comprises a 5-carbon sugar, a phosphate group and a nitrogenous base. Hydroxyl group of sugar condensed with phosphate group to form phosphodiester bond.
