Explanation / Answer

area of the force vs time graph gives the impules and,

impulse = change in momentum

impulse between time 0 - 4.01 sec

impulse = 12 * 4 .01

12 * 4.01 = mass * change in velocity

12 * 4.01 = 6.33 * change in velocity

change in velocity = 7.602 m/s

from time 5.25 to 10 sec

impulse = 12 * (7 - 5.25) + 0.5 * 12 * (10 - 7)

12 * (7 - 5.25) + 0.5 * 12 * (10 - 7) = 6.33 * change in velocity

change in velocity = 6.161 m/s

from time 10 to 16.9 sec

impulse = 0.5 * 6 * 4 + 0.5 * 3 * (16.9 - 14) + 3 * (16.9 - 14)

0.5 * 6 * 4 + 0.5 * 3 * (16.9 - 14) + 3 * (16.9 - 14) = 6.33 * change in velocity

change in velocity = 3.9573 m/s
