Question

Can you please answer question 14 and 15 please. I don't get it.

A 5.0 muF capacitor connected to a 1.5 volt battery is first fully charged up. When it is fully charged, the S muF capacitor is disconnected from the battery and connected in parallel to another 5 muF capacitor which is initially uncharged the initial charge on the capacitor redistributes to both capacitors. What is the final voltage across both capacitors? For the RC circuit below find the potential difference across the 4 mu F capacitor after the circuit has reached steady state; i.e., after many, many time constants have gone by. Pick the closest answer A current of 2.0 A is flowing through a conducting wire radius is 1.0 cm. Find the density of conduction electrons in the wire, if the drift velocity is 0.5 m/s.

Explanation / Answer

14 .

after many many time constants have gone by capacitor will be fully charged and there will be no flow of current through capacitor.

so, potential difference aross capacitor will same as PD across 7 ohm resistor.

current throug battery I = 27 / (1 + 11 + 7) = 1.42 A

V = IR = 1.42 x 7   = 9.95 Volt

Ans(B)

15. u = I / nAq

I = 2 A

A = pi r^2 = pi x 0.01^2 = 3.14 x 10^-4 m^2

u = 0.5 m/s

q = 1.6 x 10^-19 C

putting values,

n = 8 x 10^22 electrons / m^3
